Do you accept payments to be made on a puppy?

-Yes. Although the puppy must be paid for in full prior to he/her going to their new home. If you are picking up your puppy final payment can be made in cash on the day of pick up. If your puppy is being shipped to you final payment must be done at 6 weeks.

Does my puppy come with a health guarantee?

Yes, all of our puppies come with a guarantee! They come with a 2-year hip and genetic guarantee. Our genetic guarantee guarantees that your puppy will not be affected by any of the breed-related genetic diseases.

When can I pick up my puppy?

-Our puppies are ready to go to their new homes at 8 weeks of age. If you need us to hold your puppy after he/she turns 8 weeks old, please make arrangements with us ahead of time. There will be a $20/day charge for any puppy that is not picked up within a week of their go-home date. If they are being flown with a flight nanny then the charges do not start until after the first week they are able to fly home.

Do you offer shipping?

-We have a few different options for our long-distance customers. Flight Nannies are $500- $900 for domestic flights. We have had great experiences with our nannies and highly recommend this option. We can also meet clients in Austin. This is convenient for us and we are happy to do it free of charge. If we need to meet farther than that, we do charge a delivery fee. We are busy people, so in the event, we are not able to deliver your puppy we do have another ground transporter available and I can request a quote for you.

Do you remove dewclaws?

-After years of research, debating, and talking to other Doodle breeders about this topic, we have decided to keep our puppies’ dewclaws intact. The dewclaw is like a dog’s thumb and is used to help a dog maneuver while running, enables them to climb and grip objects such as bones, and is connected to other tendons in the wrist. They are not dead appendages. Removing the claw is not only extremely painful but damages those tendons which can lead to arthritis. In our medium to large breed dogs especially, we want to minimize the risk of arthritis as much as we can. There are two types of dewclaws- attached dewclaws and detached dewclaws. Attached dewclaws have a bone connecting the claw to their wrist, when attached dewclaws are removed, it is similar to removing a finger on a human. Detached dewclaws do not have a bone connecting to their wrist, are floppy, and otherwise useless. Detached dewclaws that we feel will be a nuisance as a dog matures will be removed.

Do you health test your dogs?

-Yes! Our parent dogs are health tested via Embark, Pennhip, and/or OFA.Those results are available upon request.

Do you offer breeding rights?

-We no longer offer breeding rights.

Are doodles hypoallergenic?

- No. Every breeder will tell you what they believe but allergies towards dog can come from their hair, dander, saliva and urine therefore making no dog hypoallergenic.

What if I can no longer keep my puppy?

-We understand life happens and plans change. Due to this, we request that you reach out and let us know. We will gladly help you place the dog in a new home or take him/her back no questions asked. I constantly have people asking for an older dog, so placement wouldn't be an issue.

When do I need to take my puppy to the vet after I get him/her?

-All of our puppies come with a health guarantee which requires you to have your new puppy checked by a licensed veterinarian within 72 hours of getting your puppy. You will need to send me a copy of the exam visit and any doctor's notes for the health guarantee to be valid.

What about vaccinations?

-Our puppies will go home up to date on shots and vet care for their age. At 6 weeks, they will get their first round of vaccinations. Most of our puppies go home at 8 weeks. But any puppies that stay a little longer will receive their next round if they are due for it. Our puppies are also dewormed periodically.

What does my puppy come home with?

- Spay/neuter contract, 2-year health guarantee, a blanket that smells like their mama, a bag of the food your puppy has been eating, microchip, the first round of shots and records, deworming schedule started, new puppy folder including grooming and training, a lifetime of support not only from Sweet Pea Bernedoodles but also all your puppies littermates.
